The Cold

It's Saturday Centus time and this week Mrs. Jenny threw us all for a loop by repeating last week's prompt with a slight twist. OK, Mrs. Jenny. I can play; 100 words for you. (Click over to Mrs. Jenny's blog to see this week's prompt if you're confused).

This comes from spending many hours on the road this week listening to the news...and what a disturbing news week it was.

Snow gently falling. She looked out the window, picturing herself on the field, her team like a bright orange pumpkin patch. She loved soccer, but for the first time ever in her young life, she was glad for the cold that had started, both outside and in her head, and that her mother made her stay home.

Last night she overheard her parents discussing the news, something about a coach who had done something unspeakable to a young player. She was frightened. And she was comforted that at least today she could stay in the safety of her own room.

If you're in need of something much more fun and uplifting, check out my Alphabe-Thursday which was too late to post there...

My Centus deals with this issue as well. Your's is a clever take, and very well done.

Well, of course, we all know of whom you speak....and it is, indeed, very sad.

It's so sad when we can't trust those around us, especially when they are hired to teach or care for ur children...it's just sickening.

There are no words to describe this nightmare that lasted for years, but you wrote about it with sensitivity.

As far as the ice cream, if you like rum flavor and malted milk balls, go for it. Now that I tasted it, I would not buy it again, though. I like my ice cream plain! xo

Headline news can be very disturbing...so thankful we have
the ability to look for the beauty in life..the beauty the God has given...See ya again..))smiles))

I think this is something that's on all our minds. It seems so unbelievable and yet it's true. How could it have gone on for so long?

Very well written take on a sad but unfortunately all too true fact of life. It certainly strikes a chord in all of us, particularly parents. Loved your sensitive portrayal here...very nicely done!

I'm reading this after Judie's and this issue is just making me feel ill.

What a powerful little piece of intense writing you shared here.

Sickening and sad.

Not your writing. The fact that you even have this subject to write about!
