Purple Mountain Majesties

There is definitely something majestic and magical about living in the mountains.

Like a summer storm lighting up the night...

It's Raining Gems...

...hallelujah. It's raining gems...

Are you singing that old song by the Weather Girls yet? You know the one, it's raining men... (I tried to find a version with the original singers but without the guys dancing in g-strings...cover your eyes if it offends you)...  :(

Anyway, I digress. It's just what came into my mind as I looked out the window and saw tiny gems falling from the sky. It doesn't happen often, but occasionally conditions line up perfectly with very cold air, a little mist and sun shining through it. I always wondered where the idea came from for lights on the Christmas tree ... now I know. (Click on the images to enlarge them for a better view).

Morning Light

Every morning begins with the light seeping in over the mountains. But not every morning is the same. Nor does the morning light necessarily predict what the rest of the day will be like. I like to savor the morning light.

Friday Follies

It's Friday. Totally random sightings today. No particular rhyme or reason, but just things I saw and liked as I went about my day.

More of the aspen grove at the bottom of our driveway. They change daily...they are quickly shedding their leaves. In a few days they will be nothing more than silver skeletons.

Late afternoon sun.

Watchful but not fearful.

Love like crazy. Sound advice.

A hornets' nest high in a tree at the bottom of our driveway..the size of a watermelon.

The view from the rooftop of our garage/studio.

Luke's rock work.

Ah, those mountains.

Home sweet home. L.O.V.E. this place!
And last, but not least, Camden, our cute little neighbor. Terrible twos? What's terrible about a two-year old? This little man is pure delight....and today was his 2nd birthday. Happy Birthday, Dude!

Baby Bump

I returned to the spot I shot the other day with the brilliant reds for one last look before the leaves turned to brown and fell to the ground. You just never know how long they're going to be around.

And because it was just at dusk, the colors were even more vibrant than before. Stunning.

But the real reason I went there was to shoot a few photos of my step-daughter... and her baby bump... yup, there's a little man on his way and we're excited to be greeting him soon.

They're pretty cute...and that's not a bad backdrop either!
