Let Them Eat Cake

Cream together butter and sugar. I try to remove the thought from my mind and the flavor from my mouth.

Girding up my taste buds for what’s about to come, I stand before the mighty industrial-strength blender filled to the top with snap peas, cucumber, celery, lettuce and a handful of sweet juicy oh-so-red strawberries and two heaping tablespoons of magical fairy dust complete with fiber, amino acids, protein and vitamins. I make a vain attempt to convince myself it’ll taste every bit as good as the buttercream-frosted cake I’ve sworn off. Day 3 of the 21-day cleanse begins.

Mrs. Jenny is back from her Texas road trip and contemplating a diet. Nice. So this is what she dished out for us this morning for Saturday Centus. The prompt is in red. Be sure to stop on over at Mrs. Jenny's and see what sweet things the other Centusians are serving up.

Hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day and eat cake, if that's what makes you happy! As for me and my body, I'll be hanging out with my blender.

I make veggie/fruit smoothies that leave me not missing cake. That one sounds nasty. Fun take on the prompt.

Okay, I am totally on Team butter cream frosting!!! which probably explains why my tummy is rather bowl shaped...

The science of cooking is alive and well. Julia Child's “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” tells us the importance of butter. :)

Oh how I wish I didn't love dessert, especially the chocolate kind. I haven't become concerned enough to make a concoction like you're making though. Yuk. I like the way you worked in the prompt-I'd be having to get rid of that thought of creaming the butter and sugar too, if I was facing drinking that stuff. Good job. laurie @ http://dealingwithmyinnercritic.blogspot.com/

Oh my, under the circumstance of a cleanse diet, those words would be most unwelcome, lol! Great take on the prompt. :)

I haven't really eaten that much, for more than a week, since I caught the flu, but they want me to eat before I take the antibiotics capsules, so I made myself a strawberry and ham sandwich that I am forcing myself to eat, while I'm writing this.
Food means different things for for different individuals, at different times. I usually love all food and sweets in a big way, but this flu has knocked my appetite right out, even if I am slowing getting some of it back.

I think it is scientifically proven that if you become ill after a certain dish - even a favourite - you may hate that food for a long time afterward.

That happened to me in my childhood. I just could not eat ceratin things that I bad food memories of.

Fun post!

Best wishes,
Anna

I, too, have embraced the diet my naturopath INSISTS upon.

No sugar. No flour. No gluten. And, absolutely worst of all...no buttercream.

Why must all that we love be on the resist list?

Loved and commiserate with this little story.
