A Chill in the Air

No slamming doors. No harsh words. That’s how it had always been before. But not this time. Just a heavy silence as he trailed behind her while she gathered the last of her things. She was matter-of-fact as she breezed past him, leaving a hint of ice in the air.

His eyes pleaded with her. And then his voice. “Wait. There’s more...”. Her hand went up to silence him.

“No, there’s not,” she said with finality as she walked through the door for the last time.

In the cab, she looked at the ticket in her lap. Reykjavik, Iceland. She smiled.

It's Saturday Centus time again over at Mrs. Jenny's. This week she's given us a three-word prompt (found above in red) and instructions to write 100 additional words, any style, any photos.  Since I've had so many kind and generous comments regarding the photos of Patagonia I've been posting for Alphbe-Thursday (thank you for that), I thought I'd write a little fictional ditty that would allow me to share a few images from a trip I took to the opposite end of the world a couple years ago. Welcome to Iceland, a place with its own mystery and magic. Hope you enjoyed the little detour.

But, WAIT! There's more! Don't forget to stop by Mrs. Jenny's and see what the other Centusians are doing this fine Saturday.

Anita, I don't know what to say. You are such a gifted photographer. If you are not already a member of a photography guild where you live, you really should find one and join.

We have sold our house (in only 8 days!) and are waiting to close, so we can move on to the Georgia coast. While looking at your photos, I'm thinking if I could steal one and frame it for my new house. There! I confessed! I would never take one without your permission, though.

I liked it a lot, Anita. At first I thought it was a family squable that reminded me of the time my buddy's wife left him. I was under a race car either putting in or taking out a transmission.

She left the house with a suitcase saying, "You love this d*mn car more than you love me. Goodbye."

You pictures are wonderful. I am negligent for not getting here earlier. Also for not getting to your Alpha thing. I will check today's though.

Oh wow. Those pictures.

Love them all. I think maybe the toadstool is the most magical one for me!

This story was perfect, too. Sometimes you've just had enough!
