Jump Start
It's Monday. Who doesn't need a little color to get the week going?
If you're wondering what you're seeing, they're bits of a couple of paintings by abstract artist Jon O. Thompson. He's a fave of mine.

All Creatures
Yesterday, while out getting dog food, I met Cule. She's quite a remarkable bird. It's not everyday that I get to see such a magnificent creature up close and personal.
It reminded me of the hymn, All creatures of our God and King, which I love. The words go as follows:
All creatures of our God and King
Lift up your voice and with us sing
Oh, praise Him
Alleluia
Thou burning sun with golden beam
Thou silver moon with softer gleam
Oh, praise Him
Oh, praise Him
Alleluia
Alleluia
Alleluia

Ye clouds that sail in heav'n along

Ye lights of evening find a voice

On Genealogy
It's Saturday Centus time again. If you're new to this, each week dear Mrs. Jenny Matlock gives us a little prompt to incorporate into a tasty (or not so) piece of writing (I begrudgingly do the writing but like to use the prompt for photo ideas, too). She thought she was being nice to us with the prompt (in red below) this week. Hmmm, not so sure about that... after all, what would you do with it? (Oh, 100 words, any style...have at it!)
A partially true story. Actually, it's all true except for the conversation with my daughter...funny family I have. Mom and Dad really are still in the closet at my bro's house and Grandma, still waiting for someone to come claim her ashes. Sad, but true. I guess we place more value on the soul than the shell.

SH: Whatcha doin', Mom?
SH: Oh. What’s so hard about that?
Me: I know when and where most of
the family was born. But trying to figure out the rest of the details is a
little harder.
SH: We know where all the bodies
are buried, right? It should be pretty straightforward. You know, go to the
cemetery, look at the headstones, all that jazz.
Me (laughing): Oh yea. We know
where they are alright. On the shelf in Peter’s closet, that’s where. Mom and Dad since
1998 and 2009, and Oma’s still at the cemetery waiting since 1957 for someone
to pick her up.

Frozen
We're having the most bizarre winter. First it's warm, so what snow is on the ground melts and turns into flooding for people living in the flats. Then it finally snows, and we're all happy...until it rains and ruins the snow that was there. Then, last night, it froze. Our driveway (which is wayyy steep) is a sheer luge run...a solid sheet of ice.
We won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
Lovers walking hand in hand...

There are some pretty cool ice "sculptures", though.

Flower Power
The hubs bought me flowers for our anniversary. Awww, what a sweetie.
It seems odd to me to see bright colored flowers at this time of year when it's cold and white outside. I decided to "tone them down" a bit...just photographically, of course.

I left just this one with it's original vibrant colors so you could see how brilliant they were...zowie!! So pretty!

As One
Today is our anniversary, me and the hubs. He's a great guy and I love him and I'm very happy to be married to him.
They say that if you spend enough time together, you start looking like one another. I'd be ok with that...he's pretty dang handsome, and I wouldn't mind being a few inches taller.
I know he'll hate this but I thought it was pretty funny when I saw the idea on Pinterest ...so here we are...I'd say we fit together pretty well, no?
Happy Anniversary, my love. We've got many more to go, eh?

Lazy?
You might say I was being lazy today. Truth is, though, that I have t.h.e. w.o.r.s.t. sore throat ever...well, it seems like it. Lifting my head and looking out the window to see what a gorgeous day it was only made me feel worse. I wanted to go out and play, but not today. This is the best I can do for now.
Pretty sweet view from the bedroom, though, wouldn't you say?

Snow Snow Snow
The snow finally arrived..real snow. Thank goodness too. It's been too warm for this time of year and the little amounts of snow that fell earlier in the season have been melting in the valley and causing extensive flooding for those who live at the bottom of the hill.
Finally, though, yesterday, a real snow storm - biggest snow flakes I've EVER seen!!! - and the temps are in the 20s (please don't warm up!) and there's more to come (so we hear...)...
