I took a walk in the woods today. And I wasn't wearing snow shoes. I wouldn't say it was exactly warm, but the sun was shining and the sky was as blue as could be. I was happy.
The trees I've been photographing all winter dressed in white are now standing naked except for the buds bursting forth from their branches. They stand among great tan carpets of matted down ferns at their feet. Look closely, though, and there are green shoots sprouting and reaching to the sky seeking the warmth of the sun, just like me. I feel a common bond with them.
