Reconnecting with the Past

We had friends over for dinner and a visit today. My husband helped convert Glenn (the husband/father) during his mission in South Africa for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the late 1970s. Glenn was 14 at the time; my husband was 20 (hmmm...maybe he didn't want me to tell that).

Here they stand as grown men - husbands and fathers - with quite a few years having gone by. As they reminisced about that earlier time and all that had transpired since, I wonder if they were each thinking those were good times and I'm not getting any younger* or if they were just enjoying reconnecting. They're a delightful family and it was fun for me to make their acquaintance. We hope to see more of them in the future.

*a fitting cue from Saturday Centus

I think these are some of the best kinds of reunions.
Makes you remember what serving is all about.
